There is a new ransomware scam out there whereby a website is contacted via email and told they are using images which infringe on US Copyright Law. They are told you may be subject to $150,000.00 in statutory damages and that you must cease using these images immediately. You are then directed to open the attached zip file or PDF file to view the "proof". Once you download and open this file, it releases a ransomware trojan onto your computer. DO NOT download or open the attached files or you will regret it. One of my clients was almost taken by this scam, thankfully she called me right away and after I looked into it, I was able to determine it was a ransomware scam. I am putting this out there so that everyone with a website is alerted to this scam. You can Google this for more info. Be aware and be safe!
